Over the past 12 months or so, we have received emails, phone calls and even text messages from frantic clients asking why they are being asked to pay $125.00 to complete and file a corporation’s “Annual Minutes Records Form.” Please be advised that this form and request for payment are a scam.
Corporate Records Services also known as Mandatory Poster Agency Inc. — has been accused of tricking thousands of small business owners in Wisconsin and other states for years into paying a fee and filing bogus forms that look as if they come from the government. They do this by creating the request form and envelope to appear as if the mailing may be an official government communication by inserting a seal. The form includes a “respond by” date and suggests the information requested is required by state corporate law.
The following states have posted information regarding these scam alerts on their individual state websites:
Alabama ,Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
United Corporate Services, Inc., as your Registered Agent, does not solicit in this manner, nor would any state office. We have posted a few of these alerts in the past and based on the increased inquiries we have recently received, we thought it would be prudent to once again remind you to be cautious.
Feel free to contact our Representation Department or your Client Service Representative via email or call us at 800-899-8648.
